Fans of Kevin Durant's seventh signature shoe collaboration with global sports brand Nike would have something new to be excited about. News have come out that a new colorway is coming to the popular shoe by next week. Nike's latest color design for the KD 7 "Electric Eel" is definitely electrifying and not for the faint of heart.
Nike dropped the first images of the amazing shoe in their Twitter account on March 13.
The tweet simply said, "Danger. High voltage. The #KD7 Electric Eel. Available March 19."
According to Sneaker Bar Detroit, the new KD 7 colorway was inspired by the Oklahoma City Thunder player's love for animal print design.
It features a combination of "metallic pewter, flash lime, anthracite and Lyon blue colors" all over the body. The pewter color is found on the sneaker's base.
A flash lime colored strap is found on the shoe's midsole along with a lime green colored 3M reflective "Swoosh" design. It is enhanced with prints that depict an electric eel's body.
The same print is found on the shoe's upper part in grey color.
Hints of Lyon blue are found all over the shoe on its outsole and inner lining that add a pop of color and additional brightness to the otherwise dreary colored sneaker.
Meanwhile, another "Swoosh" deisgn in solid flash lime color is found at the sneaker's side that reaches up to its heel.
According to Sneaker News, the combination of pewter and flash lime is reminiscent of the electric eel in dark waters while the brightness of the lime color reminds one of the "electricity running throughout the creature."
Choosing the electric eel for the KD 7 is not a coincidence. In an article on Kicks on Fire, it noted that the sea creature is known for its electric shocks of "up to 860 volts," which were often used for self-defense and hunting.
This trait of the electric eel was described to be synonymous to Durant's "games since he's always looking for the kill when playing on the hardwood."
Nike is set to release the KD 7 "Electric Eel" on March 19. It would be available in Nike retailers and Nike.com.
For those eager to have a pair of the electrifying shoe and could not wait until its release date, eBay may have some options for sale at an earlier date.
The pair would sell at $150 a pair for adult sizes.
