‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot 2016: Director Talks ‘Time Machines’ & ‘Orphans’ in Hater Reply

It was previously announced that the realm of the 1980s classic movie “Ghostbusters” will be a crowded one, especially after an all-male reboot will be added to a similarly themed all-female movie, as confirmed by Cinema Blend. However, the estrogen-exclusive version, which will be directed by Paul Feig, got a lot of hate from the franchise’s fans.

A lot of fans took to social dismay to tell everyone, including Feig himself, about how he had “ruined” their childhood.

“The Internet is really funny,” Feig told Variety. “I love it, but I hate it at the same time. The first wave – when you make an announcement like that – is overwhelmingly positive. Everyone’s so happy and you’re, like, ‘This is great.’ Then comes the second wave and you’re, like, ‘Oh my God.’ Some of the most vile, misogynistic s**t I’ve ever seen in my life.”

The social media post, “Thanks for ruining my childhood,” may have compelled the notable director to finally speak up and defend his upcoming project, but he chose to make a joke out of everything instead.

“It’s so dramatic,” he added. “Honestly, the only way I could ruin your childhood is if I got into a time machine and went back and made you an orphan.” Feig even joked that he will put that particular Internet post on his tombstone.

“I figure it’s some wacked out teenager,” he added, according to Flickering Myth. “But, almost constantly, it’s someone whose bio says, ‘Proud father of two!’ And has some high-end job. You’re raising children and yet you’re bashing me about putting women in my movie?”

The all-female cast of “Ghostbusters” will be out by July 22 of next year. It will be featuring known comediennes, such as Leslie Jones from “We are Family,” Kate McKinnon from “Saturday Night Live,” Kristen Wiig from “Bridesmaids,” and Melissa McCarthy from “The Heat.”

JoBlo says that it is pretty sad that the world had to live 26 years without the iconic Ghostbusters, and is now faced with two upcoming movies. It all sounds uplifting, especially for those who have remained fans of the franchise, but, sadly, a lot are still complaining.

According to the report, Feig only opted to take the all-female route since he could not find a respectable storyline for “Ghostbusters 3.” Hopefully, Bill Murray will consider making at least one cameo appearance.

The all-male line-up is also getting its fair share of bashes from fans, being dubbed as a mere reverse of Feig’s all-female movie. To date, no director or cast has been announced for the movie, but a separate report from Cinema Blend has mentioned that Channing Tatum and Chris Pratt might be on-board.
