Tech geeks might soon find themselves heading to the nearest Apple store as news began circulating that the Cupertino-based tech firm is once again set to release a new device. Reports claim that the iPad Mini 4 is arriving sooner than its other rivals.
According to Inquisitr, the company led by Tim Cook is planning to release the fourth generation of its iPad Mini to go ahead the launch of its Microsoft rumored rival, the Surface Pro Mini.
As early as 2014, reports of a smaller version of the hybrid device have been going around and many fans have been anticipating its arrival. However, the wait soon turned to disappointment as no Surface Pro Mini came out last year.
The timing of the gadget's release is vital, as iPad sales have been going down in the past months. In an article in The Motley Fool, it was surmised that sales of the Apple tablet decreased because of its lack in new features that would attract new buyers.
As such, it might be best for the company to launch ahead of its rival to gain an advantage in the tablet market share.
Meanwhile, marketing the upcoming iPad Mini 4 might not be a problem if rumored specs are to be believed. It is said that the upcoming tablet would offer the features that were supposed to go with its predecessor, which Apple chose not to include.
This includes a new processor for the device to run on. The iPad Mini 3 was expected to offer an A8 processor but was later revealed to work on the same chip as its iPad Mini 2 ancestor.
In a report on the Christian Post, the upcoming iPad Mini would finally run on the same processor used on the iPhone 6. The tablet would have an 802.11ac connectivity as well.
It is rumored that it would also come with a laminated screen just like the second-generation iPad for minimal reflections.
With the company's recent unveiling of the Retina MacBook Pro and Apple Watch, some think it would be unlikely that the company would have another event to launch the iPad Mini 4 alone.
However, other rumors insist that an April launch would be in order. If this happens, then the new device might be available in the market by September or October this year.
No price has been revealed for the iPad Mini 4.
