Most Expensive House in Florida: Palais Royal Features Soundproof Floors, Largest Residential Windows & More!

One look at the majestic Le Palais Royal estate in Florida and anyone could already guess why it recently received the accolade of "most expensive house" in the United States.

The grand house found at the Hillsboro Beach was placed on the Multiple Listing Service for the price of $139 million, said Los Angeles Times. The price dethroned the former "most expensive home" of William Randolph Hearst in Beverly Hills which was listed at $135 million.

For the hefty price tag, it might seem too much for a house but a tour of the property would leave one in awe of all its features. The 60,000 square feet home is built with 11 bedrooms and 17 bathrooms.

Although the place would seem too opulent, its history provides good reason for the design. According to listing agent William P.D. Pierce, the house was modeled after the Palace of Versailles in France complete with gold accents, balconies, stone walkways, and six fountains across the whole property.

The sheer size of the mansion was the result of the owner's desire to have his own home theater. Pierce disclosed that the owner specifically wanted an IMAX theater inside his home and this became the basis for the size of the place, noted Realtor.

When the company behind IMAX agreed to put a 50-feet wide screen to the place, that's when everything got bigger.

It was initially planned to be just a 13,000 square feet beachfront property that soon became 60,000 square feet.

Aside from the home theater, the property is also equipped with a basement parking for up to 30 vehicles and a 1,300-gallon aquarium.

For those who want to cool down from the Florida heat, a pool awaits the owners outside the house. It is an infinity edge pool with a 12-foot cascading waterfalls adjacent to it. There is also a jacuzzi for more intimate and relaxing frolic in the waters.

Kids and teens alike would be happy to discover that that the pool also features a water slide complete with LED lights.

Since it is a beachfront property, environmental elements were considered for the construction of the palatial home. The large windows facing the waters are double-paned and could "handle winds of up to 220 mph," said the agent.

Parties are not a problem as the place is also soundproofed with the help of hydrogen gas in between the window panes.

The house stands on a foundation 100 feet from the ground. It was filled 1,500 times to ensure its stability when erosion threatens the ground because of its proximity to the ocean.

The extravagant home is yet to be finished but buyers from all over the world have been looking at it. In fact, Pierce shared that not one from his potential buyers have anything to dislike about the whole property.
