The Houston Rocket connection: from one sweet-shooting guard to another. James Harden recently acquired a $2 million luxury home previously owned by retired NBA player Cuttino Mobley, as reported by the LA Times.
The Mediterranean-themed mansion (you can see photos here) was constructed in 2002 within the vicinity of the Royal Oaks Country Club.
It looks like the NBA's most feared and widely-known "The Beard" will have a new place to hang out with, and spend the rest of his five-year $80 million contract extension he inked with the Rockets in 2012.
The house has four sizable bedrooms and five baths to go along its more than 7,000 sq. feet floor area, which stands in its imposing height of three storeys high. It also comes with its own movie theatre and a game room. Upon entry to the mansion's front door, guests will be greeted by an anteroom leading up to a staircase and an expansive living area. The rooms will give you an airy feel with its high ceilings.
The master bed has the usual luxury features that include a bath tub, walk-in closet, a study, and its very own fireplace. The house also boasts of a huge kitchen with centre-island, and an infinity pool sitting adjacent to the fence of the golf course.
The Mansion is situated at the back portion of the country club's gated drive where it is conveniently nestled overlooking one of Texas' finest golf clubs. The course was designed by American professional golf player Fred Couples who is known for his signature traditional golf designs, notes Golf Texas.
Cuttino Mobley got a hold of the property back in 2001 before he decided to relinquish it in 2014. He played 6 seasons with the Houston Rockets after he was drafted by the team in the second round of the 1998 NBA Draft. He ended his NBA career after playing 11 seasons, the latter part of which he spent with the Los Angeles Clippers from 2005 to 2009, as indicated by ESPN.
According to the LA Times, Houston realtor Pamela McVaugh, founder of McVaugh Realty Inc., was on top of the deal, negotiating for both the buyer and the seller.
James Harden is one of the frontrunners in the current NBA Season MVP race, where he is averaging 26.9 points per game; just a little less than a point shy behind league-leader Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma Thunders. The Harden-led Houston Rockets is precariously holding on at the fourth spot of the dog-eat-dog NBA western conference, as of this writing.
