HBO just released a new teaser clip for the much awaited “Game of Thrones” Season 5. This new 33-second trailer hinted to the show’s fans that there might be a unique team-up by the time the War begins, according to The Wrap.
In the video, Varys, played by Conleth Hill, told Tyrion Lannister, played by Peter Dinklage, who should rule the Seven Kingdoms. “The Seven Kingdoms needs someone strong,” he said. “A ruler – loved by millions – with a powerful army and the right family name.”
The scenes in the clip was so cleverly juxtaposed that it would appear that the Master of Whisperers was referring to Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke, as pointed out by Independent. “Good luck finding him,” replied Tyrion. “Who said anything about ‘him?’” was Varys’s reply, before the clip showed Daenerys and a burst of fire from her dragons.
Winter Is Coming is convinced that Tyrion will be heading for Meereen to find Daenerys and join her in her plot for King’s Landing.
A lot of questions surfaced when a scene from the clip showed a huge crowd of Meereenese slaves trying to get their hands on Daenerys. What was questionable about the scene was that Daenerys sported a dark brown hair color, which is actually Clarke’s actual hair color, while her signature blonde locks were nowhere to be found.
From this scene alone, fans have started to speculate that the stresses of her plan to conquer the Seven Kingdoms might have caused her nightmares. Others speculated that she might be undercover and simply pretending to be someone else.
Although the latest trailer placed more focus on Daenerys, it also hinted on what has been going on with the show’s other characters.
The daughters of Prince Oberyn Martell, played by Pedro Pascal, have made it their primary goal to exact revenge against the Lannister family. Cersei Lannister-Baratheon, played by Lena Headey, ordered Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane, played by Hafpor Julius Bjornsson, to kill Oberyn.
Arya Stark, played by Maisie Williams, already decided to join the Faceless Men. In the video, she was shown mastering her weapon, Needle. Also, Stannis Baratheon has now become strong and powerful in the North.
“Game of Thrones” will be returning to television on April 12, Sunday at 9:00 p.m.
