Nexus 6, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, Nexus 10 Android 5.1 Lollipop Update Confirmed, New Batch of Kinks and Problems?

Nexus users are eager to have their hands on the Android 5.1 Lollipop update and new reports indicate the rollout is now happening with the Nexus 10 the first tablet on the list.

According to GSM Arena, recently published factory images of its latest OS update and following the roll out to some devices -- including the Nexus 5, Nexus 6 and Nexus 7 -- the first tablet to get the Android 5.1 Lollipop System Update would be the Nexus 10.

The software allows Nexus 10 users to avail of the update that offers performance, security and stability enhancements along with other bug fixes commonly experienced by users.

The file size for the Nexus 10 update is 104.4 MB with OTA Android 5.1 update with LMY47D build. The site further notes that the roll out could take a day or so to reach all Nexus tablets. Not all Nexus 10 users have received the update as update is said to be rolled out in phases.

New OS Problems Arise?

As excited Android users have updated their devices to the newest Android 5.1 Lollipop Update, Tech Times (via The Christian Post) has reported that some problems have been experienced by those who have updated to the new system.

"...the Lollipop memory leak problem, which was first reported back in November during the Android 5.0.1 roll out, still persist with the latest version and it "seem to be more frequent," wrote the publication.

It also adds that aside from the continuing memory leak issue, there have also been reported situations of random shut downs and inefficient Wi-Fi and data connectivity.

"This has been fixed internally," quoted Christian Post of a person from Google. "We do not currently have a timeline for public release." Apparently Google doesn't see the reported issues as "urgent" given that the bug fixes have yet to be pushed through.
