Fans of Michael Jordan's signature shoe collection with global sports brand Nike would be thrilled to learn that a new colorway is coming to one of their favorite shoes. The Air Jordan 10 Retro is coming out with new colors that reflect numerous highlights in the NBA icon's basketball career.
According to Kicks on Fire, the new design for the Air Jordan 10 Retro is called "Double Nickel." It drew inspiration from the 30 years of the Jordan Brand and his major game after he returned from his first retirement. The Chicago Bulls star scored a high 55 points in their game against the New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden. He just returned after he briefly tried to try a career in professional baseball.
The original "Double Nickel" was an exclusive design for Jordan and the pair he wore during his NBA season in 1995 when he returned to don the jersey number "45" for the NBA team favorite. The colorway that time was called, "Chicago," said Sneaker News.
One look at the "Double Nickel" colorway would immediately reveal the design's loyalty to the Chicago Bulls. The color palette alone is an adaptation of the red, black, and white color of Jordan's team.
The Air Jordan 10 Retro "Double Nickel" has a white upper base made of tumbled leather, which gives it a very simple yet elegant feel. Black accents are found on the tongue, shoelace, midsole, and heel. Red trimmings lined the inner part of the sneaker as well as bits of red on the sole.
The red accents on the sole represent significant events. When turned over, one could see each red line engraved with an accomplishment of the Chicago Bulls' star throughout his career.
A Jumpman logo is found at the sneaker's heel while an embroidered "45" is found on the shoe's collar, which is a tribute to his jersey number. A Jordan Brand patch is also sewn inside the tongue and a quilted "Air Jordan 23" could be found adorning the tongue.
According to Nike, the Air Jordan 10 Retro would feature the same technology that came with the original. The only difference are in the materials used as the sports brand employed a new process of coming up with shoes that mimic the first edition not just in quality but also in the feel and look.
The Air Jordan 10 Retro "Double Nickel" would hit Nike retailers on March 28.
The shoe comes in adult and grade school sizing. Adult pairs would be sold at $190, while grade school sizes come in at $140. Meanwhile, preschool versions are sold for $80 and those for toddlers are at $60.
