Barely a month has passed since the much-awaited "Heists" update of the fan favorite, "Grand Theft Auto 5," and speculations on its sixth installment have been circulating. Reports came out that the anticipated "GTA 6" is taking a different route and heading across the pond to London for its new location.
According to Master Herald, some reports have been going viral that Rockstar Games, the developer of the famous game, would do something unusual and opt to set it in a real-world location other than the imaginary ones it used to feature.
Since the first few titles of the game were set in a location curiously very similar to London, it might be a good idea to return to its roots.
Meanwhile, KpopStarz reported that fans are open to the idea of taking "GTA 6" in London based on the responses in v4chan forum. The players think that the famous European city would provide the perfect set-up for the game because of its "immigrant problems, patriotic idiots, ugly strippers for comedy, almost the same crime rate in New York and the ghettos."
This rumor was sparked by a comment previously made by Rockstar Games Creative VP Dan Houser. He reportedly said that , "At the moment, it feels like GTA's DNA is contemporary-ish, American-ish, English-speaking-ish, because that's what it has been... But that doesn't necessarily limit it to those, that's just what we've done so far."
It was also noted that the developers in Rockstar Games considered setting the game in other locations outside the United States. However, only London was constantly named as the possible overseas location based on the rumors.
Other real-world locations that surfaced are Liberty City, Portland, and Chicago, as previously reported by Realty Today.
There were also reports that "GTA 6" would return to Vice City as the game's history suggests a return on previous locations.
Another possibility drawn by KpopStarz is for the franchise's next installment to have one big location, which contained all the other cities.
"Of course at some point we would like to have one big world containing all our cities and let the player fly between them and revisit their favorite areas," Rockstar Games President Leslie Benzies once said.
He added, "Hey, if 'Game of Thrones' can have seven kingdoms, why can't GTA have a map of its own universe, right?"
Rockstar Games has not issued any statement on the location rumors. Moreover, it is reported that players could get their hands to the much awaited next installment to the series by 2018.
