Golf Star Fred Couples Sells Brentwood for $6 Million

The affluent neighborhood of Brentwood in Los Angeles has now lost one of its prominent residents. Reports came out that professional golfer Fred Couples finally found a new resident for his former home in the area.

According to Los Angeles Times, the 55-year-old PGA Tour golfer closed the deal on the acquisition of his former property off the market. It reportedly fetched the price tag of more than $6 million.

The amount would come as no surprise to anyone who has seen the property. The house, which was constructed in 2003, boasts of a Spanish Colonial Revival style. It seemed fitting for the location as Brentwood used to be a Mexican land-grant ranch during the Mexican-American War.

From the outside, one could already see the coziness the 5,661 square feet house offers. It consists of four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. One would be able to receive and entertain guests on the step-down living room, which is very spacious.

Inside the house are a kitchen for hearty meals and a library that one could also use as an office. There is also a grand foyer that opens up to the different spaces inside.

Aside from the warm and earth-toned interiors, the house is designed with French doors that open to a loggia. One could see a beautiful view of the garden from this vantage point. Outdoor parties could also be held here.

If the loggia is not enough, the exterior also extends to an outdoor living room just adjacent to the garden. From the manicured lawns, one could see the pool and spa where guests could cool themselves down on a hot and sunny day in Los Angeles.

When the weather gets too cold or chilly especially during the nights, an outdoor fireplace could be lit to give off warmth.

For guests staying over, a detached guesthouse with a suite bedroom is found across the pool for that touch of privacy and quiet.

If safety is a concern, the whole property is secured with a fence and a beautiful gate where one could see the house's exterior designed with arched doorways and a courtyard. To keep with the Spanish design, limestone floors and hardwood are found all over the house.

The house itself fetched more than $5 million but since the new owner also purchased the furnishings, it was sold for $6,014,525.

Alisa Peterson of the Sotheby's International Realty represented the buyer while David Vertlieb of the same firm represented the famous golfer.

The house belonged to Clippers Head Coach Mike Dunleavy before it was purchased by Couples on April 2012 for $4.557 million.
