‘The Incredibles 2’ Cast, Plot & Release Date: Sequel Coming Out in 2016 with Jack-Jack as Villain?

"The Incredibles 2" has finally been given the green light by Disney president, Bob Iger. He confirmed during the Disney Investor's Meeting held on Tuesday that the sequel is going to be in the works pretty soon.

"It is official," Pixar wrote on Twitter. "We are currently working on new films featuring your favorite characters from 'The Incredibles' and 'Cars!'"

Cross Map speculated that "The Incredibles 2" release date will be sometime in 2016. However, no confirmation was given regarding this matter. Wikia even stated that the sequel might focus on Jack-Jack, the youngest member of the Incredible family.

During the first movie, he was still very young and was just learning about his powers. Despite such a young age, he managed to use his unique set of powers and ended up saving his entire family.

After more than 10 years passed, Jack-Jack will be featured in his early teenage years, as reported by a separate Realty Today article. His struggle will most likely be focused on dealing with family drama as well as learning how to control his multiple superhero powers.

"Right now, we are working on 'The Incredibles 2,' which is a lot of fun in 3D," said Josh Hollander, the manager of 3D elements in the Academy-winning original.

"Not sure what the release strategy for it will be," he added. "It has been an interesting challenge to work on technology because, while the film was released 10 years ago, the technology is even older as it took four years to make."

According to Christian Today, Brad Bird, the same person who directed the first installment, will be returning to the director's seat for the sequel. The report mentioned that Bird was actually quite dubious about working on the sequel at first, especially since fans already believed that "The Incredibles 2" would no longer be possible.

Apparently, Pixar only wanted to make sure that a good story was thought of first before the sequel was put into the works. "Pixar does not look at sequels as a financial plan," Bird said during the 2007 Wondercon. "I can come up with a story that is as good or as better than that first film, then I'd love to return to that world."

The fact that the sequel has officially gotten its "go" signal hints that filmmakers have somehow gotten a head start on its storyline. However, no details were provided which led fans to come up with their own speculations.
