NBA Superstar LeBron James has another shoe coming out and it's as classic as they come. Veering away from the popular colorful sneaker design, the LeBron 12 "Wheat" is an ode to simplicity and the yesteryears.
The Nike LeBron 12 EXT "Wheat" offers buyers a boot-like suede shoe in the brown-ish gold hue. According to SneakerNews, the shoe honors the Air Zoom Generation "Wheat" that James wore during the 2004 Rookie Challenge.
The shoe's design offers a hiking-boot feel with its high cut design and use of neutral colors. But like everything LeBron, the signature shoe has a sizable metallic gold Swoosh with a Zoom gum outsole and confirming its inspiration, there is date listed on the heel, "02.13.04," the date of the 2004 Rookie Game.
Additionally, complimenting the "Wheat" color display, aside from the Gold Swosh, the shoe also makes use of Gold lace locks and Gold Eyelets.

The All-Star Weekend saw the Sophomore team headed by Manu Ginobili, Amare Stoudemire and Carlos Boozer take on a talented rookie team. The rookies from the 2003 NBA Draft class included James, Carmelo Anthony, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh.
Looking back, the star-studded game saw the Sophomores beat the Rookies but the Akron native held his own racking up 33 points, five rebounds, six assists and three steal, reports WaitingForNextYear.
On the feet of the King were his special "Wheat" color way of the Air Zoom Generation.
A shoe's design came about when the 30-year-old told Nike back then that he'd be able to play in any shoe, even if it was a Timberland Boot. The original "Wheat" design was supposed to be unveiled during the 2004 Slam Dunk Contest but instead it was worn by the Cavs forward when he participated in the Rookie Challenge game.
A dozen years down the line, LeBron is on his 120th year as an NBA veteran with an 11 NBA All-Star appearances to boot. To commemorate James' massively successful pro-basketball career, the Nike LeBron 12 edition is a tribute to James' younger years.
The Nike LeBron 12 EXT in a Wheat/ Metallic Gold color scheme is set for release on April 4, 2015. The 12th Generation "Wheat" color way carries a retail price tag of $250 and will be available in select Nike retailers.
