It was already revealed that “X-Men: Apocalypse” will be featuring younger faces of the familiar mutants. Joining Beast, Mystique, Magneto, and Professor Xavier will be Nightcrawler, Storm, Cyclops, Quicksilver, and Jean Grey.
Cinema Blend just confirmed that three more key superhero roles will be added to the cast of the highly awaited Marvel blockbuster. According to the website’s sources, Halle Berry as Storm, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, and Channing Tatum as Gambit, will all be making cameo appearances in the movie scheduled to be in production in the later part of April.
No word was provided regarding how their characters will be playing into the movie’s storyline. However, considering that they will be making cameos, they are most likely going to be featured as quick drop-ins while the others will be fighting off the titular villain.
Jean Grey will be played by Sophie Turner, Cyclops by Tye Sheridan, Storm by Alexandra Shipp, and Nightcrawler by Kodi Smit-McPhee, as stated in Screen Rant.
It would appear that Berry will be sharing the Storm character with Shipp. This will be the second time that a certain superhero character is portrayed by two different characters within the franchise; the first being Magneto.
Jackman’s cameo as Wolverine was pretty much expected since he constantly appears in all “X-Men” films – cameo or not. Fans are hopeful that his role this time will be more than just dropping the F-bomb, as he had when he appeared shortly on “X-Men: First Class.”
Tatum appearing as Gambit in “X-Men: Apocalypse” before he debuts his own solo movie franchise, which is reportedly slated for an October 2016 release, came as a surprise to many.
Director Bryan Singer already verbalized his intentions of bringing Gambit into the mix as an effective introduction before he is launched into his own titular movie. There is no better movie to re-introduce him to Marvel fans, considering that “Apocalypse” will be the sequel to the franchise’s highest-grossing box office hit.
Gambit’s re-entry into the franchise reminds the audience about the card-throwing mutant, played by Taylor Kitsch, which was featured in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.”
Although there has been no actual confirmation from Marvel or the film makers, the rumor led fans to wonder whether or not other superhero characters will be showing up in the movie as well.
“X-Men: Apocalypse” will be premiering in cinemas on May 27, 2016.
