Samsung Galaxy S6 vs. S6 Edge vs. S5; Which Device Wins? Preorder Dates, Specs Comparison & Reviews

Samsung Galaxy users will have a lot to be happy about, especially since the company’s latest flagship smartphone will be made available for pre-order this weekend. Android lovers who want to get their hands on a Samsung device have the new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, as well as a Galaxy S5 to choose from.

The new S6 and S6 Edge have been installed with a much sleeker design, as well as a better camera. Plus, its software is reportedly very easy to use, as reported by CNET. And, although the S5 did not sell as well as initially expected, it still has its own perks and must not be ruled out of the mix, either.

The new S6 devices will be available starting April 10, which hints that potential buyers might want to wait for a few days before making up their minds. That said, buyers are given the option of getting one of the company’s latest devices, or settling for last year’s flagship unit, which will surely be offered at a much lower price.

The Galaxy S5 was loaded with many of today’s greatest smartphone features. However, it did not turn out to be such a big hit for today’s Android market, primarily due to its plastic body. According to the report, Samsung fans were not so keen about its plastic look, as the material reportedly made the product look cheap, especially with the aluminum bodies that its rival companies released.

The company continued to argue that the plastic casing actually made the products more durable. However, they did manufacture metal frames for their newest devices later. As observed with the new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, gone were the plastic casings, which were replaced by metal ones.

Samsung’s latest flagship units now sport a glass back and a matte metal frame, all wrapped in a highly unique glossy Gorilla Glass feature on the front. Surely, this look is a huge development from the previous smarthpone lines launched by the Korean tech company.

They have now been given a narrower and thinner appeal, especially compared to last year’s Galaxy S5, and a tad bit taller.

When it comes to the specifications, however, the S6 and the S6 Edge are pretty much the same. There are a few differences in the design and the price, of course, but they are pretty similar with one another. The S6 comes with a cheaper price tag and features straight edges, while the S6 Edge sports a unique curved edge on each side, much like an infinity-pool vibe.

It would appear that the S6 and S6 Edge have a huge advantage as compared to the S5. However, Forbes has ascertained that the two formerly gadgets are actually loaded with a lot of bloatware. According to the report, the devices have a record-breaking 56 apps pre-installed, which is actually six more than the Galaxy Note 4.

Those who would want to own a Samsung device, but are on tight budgets, can opt to purchase the Galaxy S5. It is still a solid smartphone that has a lot of high end features. However, those who are more interested in owning a sleeker, designer smartphone, they can buy the S6 Edge.
