'Tekken 7' Characters & Release Date: Jin Kazama, Josie Rizal, Devil Jin Revealed in Trailer [Video]

With the announcement that "Tekken 7" would soon be available in countries other than Japan, the hype for the popular arcade game reached a whole new level. In addition, the game's developers revealed three new characters that would surely add more excitement to the famous fighting game.

According to Game Spot, the upcoming three characters to join the cast of fighters in "Tekken 7" were announced via a videostream on Japanese media site, Nico Nico. The clip comes in light of the series' 20th anniversary.

None other than "Tekken" executive producer and game director Katsuhiro Harada made the announcement on the live stream.

Out of the three characters, two are already old figures making a comeback. Jin Kazama and Devil Jin are old characters which have been seen by fans in previous versions of the game.

Meanwhile, the third character is a new introduction to the list of playable figures. Josie Rizal is of a Filipino descent described to be an expert in kickboxing and eskrima fight style.

According to Rappler, Madcatz Community Manager Mark Julio revealed that Josie Rizal's character is a tribute to the Philippines' national hero, Jose Rizal. The new character dons a sexy yellow and blue outfit and is the only female to be introduced in the game's big reveal made on March 29.

Arcade gamers could soon try their hand in playing as Jin Kazama as his character is set to hit the game on March 31, noted Ubergizmo. Meanwhile, Devil Jin would be available starting April 7.

No exact date was announced for Josie Rizal. However, it was stated that she would soon be added to the playable roster.

Prior to Namco Bandai's live stream, reports of Jin Kazama, Devil Jin, and other characters have already been circulating following a leaked data from the game.

A report in Shoryuken said that Korean fans were able to access data from the game's launch to have a firsthand view of character models that would join the roster soon, which included Jin Kazama and Devil Jin.

As the latest series of the franchise is already out in Japanese arcades, some fans began to wonder when they could expect it for their game consoles. While the developers have not issued a specific date on its other platform release, it is expected that the game would eventually reach consoles as did the previous series, which arrived to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii U.
