Fans of the hit zombie apocalypse TV series, "The Walking Dead," might be sad that the fifth season finally ended but it seems that their gloomy mood will not last long. AMC finally dropped the teaser video for the upcoming "TWD" spinoff series and the short clip sure looked intriguing.
After months of buzz around the new series, fans of Rick Grimes and the gang now know the name of the offshoot show, "Fear The Walking Dead." AMC launched a teaser video during the commercial break of the season finale episode of "TWD" on March 29.
The 16-second teaser began with a view of the Los Angeles skyline while a news reporter spoke on the background about a strange outbreak, reported Hollywood Life.
"Los Angeles, hope you got your flu shot," said the reporter. "Reports in five states, that a strange virus is going around, so if you're not feeling well, go home, and take care of yourself."
The scene then cuts to a tunnel with a lone zombie walking and ends to reveal the show's title.
While not much was revealed in the trailer, it could be presumed that the setting of the upcoming series by AMC is set on the events before "The Walking Dead" when the outbreak was just beginning, said Cinema Blend.
Fans of the show are looking forward to how the story of the outbreak began, unfolded in Los Angeles, and soon affected other cities. It is bound to give viewers a different taste of the zombie apocalypse as people slowly realize that it is not just a kind of flu that could be countered with vaccination but something more horrifying.
While it remains unclear if the show would explain the beginning of the outbreak, fans could expect "fresh-looking" zombies in the series.
The new series would feature a different set of cast, said Rolling Stone. Cliff Curtis would play Sean Cabrera who is a divorced teacher while Kim Dickens took on the role of guidance counselor Nancy Tomkins. Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam-Carey also join the cast as Nancy Tomkins' children.
"Fear The Walking Dead" would premier with six episodes in the summer of 2015. The timing could not be more perfect as the spinoff would satisfy fans' "zombie cravings" while they wait for the return of "The Walking Dead" Season 6 on TV.
The offshoot show is already confirmed for a second season to be aired starting 2016.
