A decade since Pixar Animation Studios came out with the superhero family animated film, "The Incredibles," fans are still waiting for the sequel to come out. However, it seems that the wait may finally be over as reports revealed that the animation company scheduled two release dates for their movies and one of these might be for the highly anticipated second film.
According to the Christian Post, the upcoming sequel is already in the works. Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger confirmed it himself in 2014. However, not many details about the film were released since that announcement.
The lack of details sparked numerous speculations about the sequel with many of it geared towards the possible plot of the second film.
A report in Master Herald brought up the possibility that the new film would feature a timeline set in the future where the Parr family children have already grown up. It was also speculated that the youngest, Jack-Jack, who was initially thought as powerless but proved to be the most powerful would be the central character in the upcoming movie.
An unnamed villain would see Jack-Jack's power and attempt to turn the youngest Parr family superhero into his protégé and lure the kid to the dark side. Due to Jack-Jack's ineffectiveness in handling his power, he might actually be persuaded to do so.
The plot is also rumored to be more "dramatic and emotional" than the original film.
Brad Bird, who wrote and directed the first film, is back to pen the sequel's story. While he returned to join the production team, it seems that not everyone from the original movie would be called back in the sequel.
The rumored timejump prompted rumors that there is a big possibility the actors who lent their voices to the Parr children would be replaced with people offering more mature voices to fit their new ages.
Meanwhile, Pixar reportedly blocked the dates November 22, 2017 and June 15, 2018 as the release dates for two of their new films. This sparked speculation that one of the two dates is set for "The Incredibles 2" movie.
However, this was not confirmed by anyone from the animation studio and with no specific titles entered on the said dates, it remains a possibility for the sequel.
It also seems that the sequel to "The Incredibles" would be made in 3D with Josh Hollander at the helm, noted KpopStarz.
