'Halo 5: Guardians' Update & Release Date: Lead Characters Master Chief, Spartan Locke Featured in New Trailer? [Watch]

Ever since word came out that "Halo 5: Guardians" is in the works, many fans of the military science fiction video game have been looking forward to the new title. However, it seems that the wait would soon be over as new gameplay trailers were released that feature not just one but two major characters in the upcoming video game.

Fans of the video game went into frenzy when Xbox posted a tweet accompanied by a video that showed Spartan Locke with his gun aimed at Master Chief. The tweet was captioned, "There are 2 sides to every story. #HUNTtheTRUTH #Halo5."

A few moments later, a new video was uploaded on Twitter with a caption that seemed to be random words. The clip showed Master Chief standing upright and threatening to take Spartan Locke's life.

Some fans initially thought the post was a mistake, while others thought the administrator who posted the clip was drunk. It took a few moments for them to realize that the random words were actually the same caption as the one on the previous video but only turned upside down.

The tweets prompted fans to speculate on the premise and plot of the highly anticipated video game. According to Game Spot, a week before Xbox uploaded the teaser clips on the social networking site, Microsoft already came up with a "Hunt the Truth" hints as it posed the question, "Who is the real Master Chief?"

After the two videos were released, 343 Industries Chief Bonnie Ross came up with a press release to further explain the upcoming video game.

"We wanted Halo 5: Guardians to be the game that pays off the epic promise of the Halo universe in scope and scale and drama," told Ross to Game Spot.

He added, "We want to amaze players with the sheer size of the worlds and battles they'll experience, even as they question everything they thought they knew about its heroes, marvels and mysteries."

The "drama" Ross mentioned may have something to do with the marketing campaign tagged as "Hunt the Truth."

While the caption already caught the fans' attention, it seems that more details would be released about the upcoming game soon. Ross promised that their firm would reveal more about "Halo 5" on E3 scheduled in June.

"Halo 5: Guardians" would hit Microsoft Xbox One game consoles on October 27, 2015.
