‘American Horror Story’ Season 5 Plot & Cast: Sequel to Focus on ‘Hotel California’ Song? Jessica Lange to Make Cameo Appearance?

"American Horror Story" Season 5 will be returning to its roots, so to speak. Compared with the recent seasons before it, such as "Coven" and "Freak Show," "American Horror Story: Hotel" will be focused on a place instead of a group of people.

Much to the dismay of Jessica Lange's fans, she already confirmed that she decided to leave the horror anthology series. "We have had a great run here," she said at this year's Paleyfest event, according to Zap2It. "I have absolutely loved doing these four characters that I have had the opportunity to play. But, yes, I am done."

Hence, earlier reports that hinted on Lange making cameo appearances when "American Horror Story" Season 5 starts and ends might turn out to be false.

Moreover, another speculation making its rounds is that the show's storyline will be using the song "Hotel California" from the Eagles as a source material. The song was allegedly about Anton LaVey, the founder of the Church of Satan. According to Inquisitr, LaVey purchased a hotel in San Francisco and turned it into the Church of Satan.

Multiple online news outlets reported that Lady Gaga, whose real name is Stefanie Germanotta, was chosen for the lead role, and that her male counterpart will be Matt Bomer from "White Collar."

"I am so excited to be a part of 'American Horror Story's' hardworking cast," Gaga wrote on social media. "A twisted fantasy - my favorite kind."

It was confirmed that Wes Bentley, Cheyenne Jackson, and Chloe Sevigny will be featured in the upcoming season as well. The show's creator, Ryan Murphy, made the official announcement on Twitter that Sevigny, who appeared in the show's second season, will be returning as a new regular member of the cast.

The only character details provided were the ones for Gaga's role. As indicated on Tumblr, Gaga was chosen to portray an eccentric and aristocratic heiress who will strive to make her hotel business successful despite its tragic past.

According to the reports, the hotel will serve as home to some unsavory guests as well as a regular venue for gatherings of Satanic cults and secret organizations. Gaga's character will even allow them to conduct their strange and bizarre rituals as well as other related dark practices as long as they pay the amount of money she asks from them.

"American Horror Story" Season 5 will be returning to television on October this year.
