Fans of the video game "Assassin's Creed" would have another thing to look forward to. It seems that the game developer behind the popular franchise, Ubisoft, has new things up on its sleeve regarding the series. Word is out that not one but three additional games are arriving soon under the "Assassin's Creed Chronicles" title.
The upcoming games are said to bring the players in locations and eras that have yet to be explored in the franchise. Players would see themselves in China, India, and Russia to face exciting challenges never before seen in previous game titles.
Ubisoft Montreal is working in collaboration with Climax Studios to bring the 2.5D video games to life, said IGN.
Head of Content for Ubisoft Montreal Aymar Azaizia confirmed the three upcoming games in the Ubi Blog. "We're talking about Chronicles, plural," Azaizia said.
The first title called, "Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China," would see the character of Shao Jun in China during the decline of the Ming Dynasty. The character was first seen in the "Assassin's Creed Embers," reported Game Spot.
The next two stories in the trilogy would bring to life characters from the graphic novels where the game was based on.
In the second game based in India, Arbaaz Mir would take the center stage during the time of the Sikh Empire in 1841. Mir was first seen in the "Assassin's Creed: Brahman."
The third and last story from the chronicles bring back Nikolai Orelov from "Assassin's Creed: The Fall and The Chain." The timeline for this game is set during the post Red October revolution period in Russia.
While the three games would all have a bit of similarity in how they would be made, they still possess distinct traits in their settings, story, main character, and art style and are connected with one another.
Art Director Glenn Brace said, "They're all illustrative, and that brings them together."
He added, "For China, we took a 16th century influence - very flat, 2D illustration. We then melded a very contemporary Chinese ink take with it, so it echoes Shao Jun the character and how fluid she is. We end up with a romantic, impressionistic vibe."
For the Indian story, Brace revealed that their approach was to have a "19th century British journalistic imagery." He noted, "We took influence from litographs. Color was a key component; we boosted that, and we mixed some Sikh-influenced patterns into the world. So again, the fusion of a traditional medium of the period with a very modern, contemporary take."
Brace added that the story based in Russia is very "exciting." The art director said, "It's 20th century, so we have photography, graphics, poster art, constructivism, and we fused all those together to achieve and even more stark contrast to the other epsiodes."
"Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China" would be available on April 21 for $10. For those who already purchased the "Assassin's Creed" Unity DLC pass, the download would be free.
