“Avengers: Age of Ultron” film makers have been somewhat secretive when it comes to the upcoming blockbuster’s plot, characters, and its main connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, it has just been revealed that two new celebrities have been added to the mix.
According to Slash Film, Julie Delpy from the romantic trilogy, "Before Sunrise, "Before Sunset," and “Before Midnight,” and Linda Cardellini from “Mad Men,” have just been called in for unspecified roles in the second installment for the “Avengers” franchise. Fans were quick to assume that one of them may have been selected for Captain Marvel’s role, as reported by Screen Rant.
However, considering that these two amazingly skilled actresses are both in their 40’s, it is a bit unlikely that they were chosen to take on the role of Carol Danvers, also known as Captain Marvel. Still, amid all the secrecy, fans of the franchise are quite confident that their roles are significant ones since they were included in the premiere cast listing of the film.
Furthermore, although Disney has kept mum about their roles, the studio has confirmed that their names on the film’s official cast listing were not misprints, according to Screen Rant.
It must be noted, however, that Marvel has a knack of inserting cameo appearances from some of today’s big celebrities. For instance, “Avengers” featured a cameo appearance by Harry Dean Stanton from “Big Love.” “Captain America 2” showed Danny Pudi from “Community” as a S.H.I.E.L.D. tech agent. Plus, “Iron Man” was never short on celebrity cameos.
Cardellini and Delpy will be joining Robert Downey, Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Don Cheadle, Stellan Skarsgard, Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Paul Bettany, Cobie Smulders, and James Spader.
“Avengers: Age of Ultron” will be hitting big screens on May 1 this year, and will be closely followed by a multitude of other Marvel films.
“Ant-Man” will premiere on July 17. “Captain America: Civil War” will be out by May 6 next year. “Doctor Strange” has been scheduled for a Nov. 4, 2016 release date, “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” on May 5, 2017, and “Spider-Man” on July 28 that same year. Moreover, “Thor: Ragnarok” will be out on Nov. 3, 2017, “Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1” on May 4, 2018, “Black Panther” on July 6, 2018, the much awaited “Captain Marvel” film on Nov. 2, 2018, “Avengers: Infinity War – Part 2” on May 3, 2019, and “Inhumans” on July 12, 2019.
