The two camps were never exactly civil with each other, and it's more like an acrimonious rivalry from the start. At the time the contract wasn't even inked yet, some nasty things have already been said and done -- accusations of personal nature hurled left and right, blame-games on who stalls the negotiations, a lawsuit filed, blowing of one's trumpet, and all the social networking jibes, uncalled-for but, admittedly, entertaining at times.
But, no one's complaining. Sports fans understand that all these below-the-belt jabs and cheap shots make the May 2nd bout all the more intriguing, not to say compelling. And outside the boxing ring, there's another innocuous squabble that can be brewed out of the two fighters.
The bone of contention: their net worth and other assets.
Not that the two are trying to one-up each other in this regard. It's just that with all the money involved in the richest fight in boxing history, people can't help but compare. And now, let's try to have a sneak peek on the tale of the tape.
Net Worth
As per CelebrityNetWorth, Floyd Mayweather, Jr. has an estimated net worth of $300 million, thanks largely to his total career earnings that would amount to $430 million prior to the Pacquiao fight. Mayweather also tops the list of Forbes 2014 highest paid athletes in the world. He earned a whopping $105 million in salary earning alone.
Pacquiao, meanwhile, also made the list at the 11th spot, taking in a total of $41.8 million, $800,000 of which comes from endorsements. He has a net worth of $110 million as per CelebrityNetWorth.
Mansion
Pacquiao just recently purchased his Beverly Hills luxe estate for $12.5 million as told by TMZ. Oh, and let's not forget, the four Mayweather-fight tickets he gave away as comps, which reportedly sealed the deal with the sellers.
The 10,000 square foot Mediterranean-themed mansion has 7 beds and 8 baths. It reportedly goes fully-furnished equipped with a modern kitchen, a $200,000 home theater, an a resort-like backyard.
Floyd, on one hand, isn't coy when it comes to talking about his own mansion. He figures that it's so grand it has to have its own Instagram account.
The BigBoyMansion (paid in cash) is highlighted by an immense living space, an elegant master suite, a bi-level theater, and a garage that houses his collection of expensive cars.
Cars
We might as well give this one to Floyd and rule it as a no-contest... because:
Business Insider gives a $6 million valuation to his car collection above, which includes those from luxury carmakers Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Bugatti. The private jet is valued at around $2 million.
The May 2nd showdown between two of boxing's most prized fighters will also serve as a unification bout for three of the major sanctioning organizations in the sport. Mayweather currently holds the WBA and WBC world titles, while Pacquiao has the WBO.
