'Prometheus 2' Release Date & Spoilers: Alien Nations To Have War on Earth in Sequel? New Alien Species Revealed!

With a sequel to the film "Prometheus" already underway, fans of the movie are excited to know what are in store for the science fiction film by Ridley Scott. Reports have come out that the upcoming movie would veer away from the "Aliens" franchise and introduce a darker and more menacing species in its wake.

The movie's ending, which showed the xenomorphs, had a lot of people buzzing that the upcoming sequel would further delve in to the "Aliens" realm to act as a prequel to the famous 1978 film by the same director.

However, Scott came in defense of his 2012 movie, "Prometheus," and quickly put out the rumors that it was a prequel to the said film. The director added that the second film would no longer feature xenomorphs.

A report in Screen Rant in October 2014 quoted the director to have said, "It wears out a little bit. There's only so much snarling you can do. I think you've got to come back with something more interesting. And I think we've found the next step. I thought the Engineers were quite a good start."

While it was a relief for many that the xenomorphs would not return, it was a surprise to learn that the engineers would take the center stage in the upcoming movie.

According to Crossmap, this revelation might see the movie's location to be set on Earth instead of the outer space. This bit is not the only surprising thing that could be seen in the movie.

"Predators" movie director Noomi Antal told Movie Pilot that he was able to speak with Scott, who revealed to him the plans for the sequel.

Antal shared that Elizabeth Shaw's spaceship would emit signals that would have Wayland-sponsored military go after it even before it hits Earth. However, Shaw would not be able to make it and another heroine would take her place and the engineer's planet would not be revealed until the third movie.

This led to the speculation that the engineers are not actually humans but are instead members of an alien race that would replace the xenomorphs. It remains to be seen how the engineers would evolve in the new movie.

Meanwhile, Master Herald reported that the sequel would instead focus on a war between alien species unlike the usual aliens against humans plot. If this is true, then it would be interesting what kind of alien creatures would go against each other and how their story will affect the other characters.

However, fans would not have to wait long for that as the cast is set to start production this year and the movie is slated for a March 2016 release.
