'LG G4' Specs, Release Date & Price: Smartphone Confirmed, Upgraded Display, Interface & Efficient Battery Performance? [Rumors]

The next-generation flagship smartphone by LG is said to be getting some major upgrades. The LG G4 is expected to come with a better display, battery performance and user interface, to name a few.

Per a recent report by 9to5Google, LG Display detailed a new feature in the upcoming device -- "a new 5.5-inch QHD LCD panel. LG claims that it has achieved a 'quantum jump' in color gamut and brightness with this display, while also and perhaps more importantly, reducing power consumption. The display is also much thinner than any display before."

The new QHD display has a 1440 x 2560 resolution for 538 ppi and an advanced Touch Technology making the device more responsive to touch commands. The display is improved with a 120 percent color gamut, up from a "conventional" offering of 100 percent.

Online publications reveal that the 5.5-inch display believed to be featured on the upcoming LG G4, users will enjoy greater color and brightness control along with a more efficient use of battery. The new display is suppose to offer more color depth and touch function a well.

LG UX 4.0 Interface

According to TechnoBuffalo, LG's newest interface, the UX 4.0 was unveiled and shows how it has built on the existing features of earlier software versions. Some features include on-screen drawing, front-cam usage a well as new features that include bulletin-layout, camera capture option and much more.

The SmartBoard feature is the most interesting upgrade in the new system. The feature gathers data from various apps and services and presents them to users in a home-screen widget layout for more efficient maneuvering.

Mr. Byeong-Koo Kim, Vice President of the IT/Mobile Development Group at LG Display spoke about the technology (via iDigitalTimes) saying:

"The company has maximized the essential display functions for mobile devices from touch to color gamut by using the latest technology and accumulated expertise." He added, "LG Display will continue to develop products that can offer the best user experience not only for smartphones, but also for tablets and notebook PCs."

The site further noted that overall, the new system doesn't look too different from the one currently running on the LG G3 and from the screenshots shown, the UI i running on the Android 5.0 Lollipop platform.

The LG G4 is rumored to be unveiled during a global even at the end of the month, on April 28. Stay tuned for more.
