The pretty woman of Hollywood would like to "run away", for good, from her beachfront residence in Hawaii, Pacific Business News is first to report. Julia Roberts is asking $29.85 million for the property.
"It's one of the largest lots in an area where neighbors include Chuck Norris and Mark Zuckerberg", Zillow notes. The Facebook founder has reportedly purchased an enormous 375 acres of this North Shore section of the Kauai for $66 million.
Other notable names who have been charmed by the Hawaiian appeal of the North Shore bay include Pierce Brosnan, Ben Stiller and Oakley founder James Jannard, according to Pacific Business News.
The "Eat, Pray Love" and "My Best Friend's Wedding" star acquired the estate on this archipelagic Aloha State back in 2011 for a little less than $14 million.
Julia Roberts has a net worth of $140 million as per The Richest. She was named the richest actress in Forbes' 2007 list of the 20 Richest Women in Entertainment. She was the first female Hollywood A-lister to command a $20 million paycheck for one movie.
The sprawling two-acre estate was previously owned by Hans Peter Faye, one of the more distinguished members of the Hawaii high-society circle and sugar plantation manager in Kauai island, who first got hold of it in 1915. At that time, there were plans to construct beachfront residences for the summer on the prime lots of the Hanalei strip, and Faye was one of the lucky few who were able to snag these beachfront lots from the auction, as told by the listing.
The seven-bedroom and four-bathroom home was constructed back in 1946. The structure has a living space of 3,792 square foot that sits on two parcels of Hanalei Beach Lots combined into one.
"Building on the property may be permitted for up to 9,000 sf, allowing for additional structures, pool, & larger buildings", the listing reads.
The property has about 200 feet area reserved for beach front as was reported by Pacific Business News. It also boasts of having a sweeping view of both the "mauka and makai", frequently used Hawaiian terms which literally mean towards the "mountain" and the "ocean", respectively. Staying on this estate will surely give you that ocean vibe with a mountain backdrop, perfect for that typical Hawaii beach living.
One of the selling points of the property is the fact that it is one of the few remaining parcels of land in Hanalei which will give you that "expansive and open feel". Other beachfront spaces from this coveted Hanalei Bay area are mostly subdivided into smaller parcels.
Neal Norman, realtor at Hawaii Life Real Estate Brokers, notes that the listing is the only one available for sale today.
