Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield reportedly decided to take a break from their three-year relationship. Rumor has it that they have not been seen together since they were spotted grabbing a bite in New York City earlier this year.
“They have been fighting a lot and they have not seen each other,” a source told Us Weekly. “They have both been working, but they were not getting along.”
Garfield has reportedly been too busy filming for “Silence” by Martin Scorsese which is presently shooting in Taiwan. This explains why he has been missing-in-action in recent Hollywood scenes. He might make a comeback when production for the film wraps up in May.
Meanwhile, Stone has also had her own fair share of hectic schedules due to her participation in “Cabaret” which plays in New York City’s Broadway stage. Apart from that, she also co-starred with Bradley Cooper in “Aloha” which was directed by Cameron Crowe and will be out by May. “Irrational Man,” her latest collaboration with Woody Allen, will also be hitting theaters in July.
Rumor has it that apart from his hectic schedule with “Silence,” Garfield has reportedly fully embodied his dark role which is the reason "he is not boyfriend material right now.” “He is very much in his character,” said the source. “He has lost weight and he is in a dark place mentally for his performance.”
Stories about the couple experiencing trouble in paradise only started to make headlines in the last couple of weeks. However, according to E! Online, fans actually started to speculate that something was not right when Stone attended a major red carpet event without the “Amazing Spider-Man” star.
Stone, who was among the nominees during the recent Oscar awards, was all alone at the event for her performance in “Birdman.” The same was observed when she attended the Golden Globes and the SAG Awards.
As mentioned earlier, the dinner hosted by Fox Searchlight for “Birdman” in New York City seemed to have been the last time Garfield was spotted spending time with Stone in a public event.
Despite this break though, sources insisted that they are not actually referring to it as a breakup. Even though they are physically distant from each other, they reportedly remain to be on good terms.
To date, their representatives have neither confirmed nor denied if they are really experiencing trouble in their relationship.
