If only the walls or the four corners of our homes can speak, we can be pretty sure they'll do a good job spinning some real estate yarn. For one, they must have a lot of fascinating stories to tell; some of these tales would even go down as urban legends that could merit a TV show feature.
And how about this infamously huge condo in Brooklyn that is, apparently, so huge that there's a good chance people inside the house may not bump into each other for hours?
Well, rumor has it -- or at least that's what some Mr. Leaf, 53, founder of Cadogan Management, claims -- and as was posted in one of the stories in The Wall Street Journal:
"A few months ago, Stuart Leaf was sitting in his Brooklyn Heights apartment when he got a call from his wife asking when he'd be home. It turned out 'we'd both been home for three hours,' he said-their roughly 11,000-square-foot condo is so large that neither one realized the other was there."
Their story hit home with Stuart and his wife, Claire Silberman Leaf, a philanthropist and former lawyer, that they rethink everything, and eventually decided it's about time to sell the property. The owner figured the house was too big for them and that they'd be "empty nesters" anyway.
The luxury estate, which was originally nine units from the 10th to the 12th floor combined into one vast place, has an asking price of $32 million. And, this would have to be the most expensive condo unit in the borough by far.
To date, the priciest Brooklyn condo (Clock Tower in Dumbo) was sold for only $7 million in 2008, the Wall Street Journal notes.
Almost everything about the Stuarts' One Brooklyn Bridge Park unit is also huge. It has an immense living space that is perfect for entertainment, a chef's kitchen and formal dining area, a spacious landscaped terrace, and a 3500-bottle wine storage space.
The house also features a theater room, private guest space, home office, steam room and spa, security system, and central air conditioning. The master suite, which is one of the unit's six bedrooms, has a fitness area and his-and-her closets. The place has six full baths and two half baths.
"This beautiful one-of-a-kind penthouse residence boasts spectacular sweeping views of the Brooklyn Bridge Park, Statue of Liberty, downtown New York City skyline and the Brooklyn Bridge from almost every room and terrace", according to the listing by Karen and Alan Heyman for Sotheby's International Realty.
