'Fantastic Four' 2015 Trailer, Characters & Release Date: Still Images Leaked? Superhero Powers Represent Curse?

Ever since it was reported that Marvel's "Fantastic Four" is getting a reboot, fans of the superhero team are eager to see what's in store for the franchise. The studio has remained quiet for the past months with very few teaser clips and pictures. However, recent still images circulated the Internet and based from the photos, the reboot film seems determined not to disappoint.

The studio behind the upcoming movie has released very few promotional materials, noted Screen Rant. As such, fans of the franchise are eager to jump into any form of marketing the movie comes out with.

Making the rounds online are few screen shots of the movie that showed Jamie Bell as The Thing in its full glory. Another photo also showed the dimension where the quartet traveled and got their superhero powers.

The upcoming film would focus on the origin stories of Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and the Thing, reported Entertainment Weekly. While the story would give the viewers a background on the transformations of Reed Richards, Ben Grimm, Johnny and Sue Storm, it would also provide a different perspective.

The trailer showed a darker version of the series compared to the two films that came out in 2005 and 2007. Speaking to Screen Rant, director Josh Trank admitted that there is a bit of a "horror film aspect" in the reboot movie.

"I just kinda jumped to 'body horror' in my head. 'Chronicle' is about the evolution and strengthening of unique powers. This movie is really viewing them as a curse," said Trank.

"Fantastic Four" would touch on the first few days when the characters realized that they have acquired superpowers and how they would adjust to it.

Speaking about her character, the Invisible Woman, Kate Mara described her transformation in the movie as, "It's as if your got into a car accident and a part of you is different for the rest of your life."

While the new film has that scary and foreboding feel, Trank made sure that the "coming-of-age" aspect is not forgotten. He called his upcoming movie a "Dark Amblin," a combination of Tim Burton and Steven Spielberg that hopes to really capture what it is like to realize that you have been changed and is now equipped with powers you do not know how to utilize.

"Fantastic Four" would hit theaters on August 7, 2015.
