'Iron Man 4' Trailer & Release Date: Cast Spoiler Leaked, New Report Says Tragic Storyline [Rumors]

The future of the "Iron Man" franchise hasn't been officially confirmed but per sources, leaks on the possible plot have been revealed online.

MasterHerald reports that alongside all the rumors about Robert Downey Jr.'s return or replacement, there is now speculation regarding Iron Man/ Tony Stark's love interest, Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow ).

In the past three installments of the popular superhero series, Potts has always been in the line of danger with Iron Man coming to the rescue at the last possible second. Now, there are news outlets that reveal Potts may finally meet her maker.

Per Latinos Post and other sources, with more villains around, Potts has a greater chance of dying and if this does happen, it's also rumored that this could trigger Iron Man's departure from the planet Earth.

"Iron Man 4" Happening?

As of now, there is not concrete word on whether "Iron Man 4" will be hitting the theaters. Robert Downey has previously stated (via Entertainment Weekly) that he's still open to a fourth installment but such hasn't been discussed with the studios.

"It's down to Kevin [Feige, Marvel Studios president] and Ike [Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel Entertainment] and Disney to come to us with what the proposal is, and that's on us to agree or disagree... When things are going great, there's a lot of agreement."

However, as previously reported, we also know that given the importance of Iron Man in "Captain America: Civil War," the 50-year-old celebrity admitted to participating out of necessity.

"They said to me, 'If we have you, we can do this, or Cap 3 has to be something else.' It's nice to feel needed. And at this point it's about helping each other, too. I look at it as a competition and I go, 'Wow, maybe if these two franchises teamed up and I can take even a lesser position, with people I like and directors I respect, maybe we can keep things bumping along."

Given Marvel's timeline for confirmed films, it's estimated that should there be a fourth film, the earlier would make it to the cinemas would be 2019 to 2020 making Robert 55 years of age by then. There are rumors that RJD could be replaced by a younger actor, namely Ty Simpkins, who appeared in "Iron Man 3."

While "Iron Man 4" has yet to be confirmed, catch Robert bring Iron Man and Tony Stark to life in the upcoming Marvel film, "Avengers: Age of Ultron" due out May 1, 2015 as well as "Captain America: Civil War" when it hits cinemas May 6, 2016.
