‘Avengers 2: Age of Ultron Cast: Did Mark Ruffalo Slip Up and Confirm ‘Planet Hulk’ is in the Works?

Mark Ruffalo, the actor who plays the role of Bruce Banner or Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe or MCU, might have spilled some major information about a solo “Hulk” film. Hoping that Ruffalo was telling the truth and not attempting to mislead the franchise’s audience, fans are excited that the green-skinned juggernaut they love will be getting his own line of films soon.

“I think there is a lot of places to go with Hulk,” Ruffalo told IGN. “Well, he is going to Space. Yeah. I mean there is some talk of, maybe, ‘Planet Hulk.’ I would be completely interested in entertaining that.”

Ruffalo was actually being interviewed with his “Avengers 2: Age of Ultron” co-star, Scarlett Johansson, who plays the role of Black Widow. They were asked to say a few things about the future of the “Avengers” franchise and the “Begin Again” actor just could not prevent himself from speaking candidly about his character and may have mentioned more details than Marvel might have liked, according to Screen Rant.

“Planet Hulk” is a separate Marvel franchise that sends Banner, in his green mutant form, into a savage alien planet, and being hailed as this strange world’s king.

ScarJo then turned everything into a funny conversation when she asked Ruffalo, “Do they have a Starbucks there? That is what I want to know.”

“They do not,” Ruffalo answered while laughing. “It is pretty bleak.”

Although recent reports might indicate that Marvel heads are presently talking about “Planet Hulk,” Ruffalo stated that he has not been involved in any active talks regarding the project. The solo Hulk project was actually not among the blockbusters that were part of the Phase 3 slate, which was announced just last year.

Movie Web is convinced that, if ever the studio does decide to push through with the movie deal, it will not be happening until, at least, 2020. Fortunately for avid Marvel followers and Hulk’s fans, this is only five years from now.

The report also mentioned that it was Kevin Feige himself who confirmed that the studio did not have any plans of making a solo movie for the Incredible Hulk anytime soon, as reported by a separate article from IGN. According to him, adapting a world that resembled Planet Hulk would be such a huge challenge.

Still, there is always the possibility that the tides could have changed in the ensuing month. Plus, instead of focusing the entire movie on Banner, his storyline might be featured in another film – pretty much like what was done with “Infinity War.”
