With less than a month to go before the "Avengers: Age of Ultron" hits theaters, fans of the franchise have been wondering if the movie would introduce new superheroes when it comes out. However, some reports revealed that the anticipated first look of Captain Marvel won't be happening in the upcoming film as producers nixed her part in the script.
When the said announcement was made, it was also confirmed that Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver would join the rest of the Avengers in its next film which made some fans wonder if Marvel Studios have a few tricks up their sleeve and would add more superheroes from their universe.
However, this hope was crushed as studio president Kevin Feige denied the rumors that have been circulating about Captain Marvel's inclusion in the movie.
Feige was in an interview with MTV News when he confirmed that the super heroine would not appear in the film although her character was part of the original script, said Cinema Blend.
The studio president revealed they had legitimate reasons for scrapping out her part in the movie. "We didn't want to introduce her fully-formed flying in a costume before you got to know who she was and how she came to be," said Feige.
While that might be sad news for the fans of Captain Marvel, the studio has not totally removed her from their plans. It has been confirmed that a solo movie on her story is in the works.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel Studios already sought out the help of two writers to come up with a script for the film. Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman are said to be in talks with executives from the studio to team up and develop the story for Carol Danvers, most famously known as Captain Marvel.
Perlman was instrumental in the success of "Guardians of the Galaxy" as she was one of the writers who penned the script of the movie. Meanwhile, LeFauve wrote Pixar's most recent animated film, "Inside Out."
Captain Marvel was originally called Ms. Marvel until 2012. The upcoming movie about the character is the first time Marvel Studios would come out with a superhero movie that features a female lead. In this regard, it was reported that the studio took careful consideration to look for female writers who would bring her to life on the big screen.
"Captain Marvel" is slated for a 2018 release while "Avengers: Age of Ultron" is coming soon to theaters on May 1, 2015.
