The "It's Oh So Quiet" singer-songwriter may have gotten the inspiration for the song during one of her many stays in this sleepy lakeside home, now reportedly up on the Icelandic market for 28,000,000 Krona (ISK), or approximately $204K, writes the CreatorsProject, via Curbed.
The idyllic summer home, tucked amid thick foliage and trees on a hillside, is a perfect retreat for the weary souls who would want nothing but a peaceful sanctuary all for themselves. The summer home is so secluded -- it is the ideal getaway for families and artists, like Björk, looking for a quiet place to stay, hang out in the summer, or work.
The home can be found in the town of Selfossa, 50 km. off the capital Reykjavic and part of the municipality of Arborg, in the southwestern region of Iceland. "While the town of Selfoss has a population of just 6,500, it is the largest residential area of South Iceland, and boasts its own privately-run airport", the Daily Mail notes.
From the outside, the house gives a nondescript impression from a distant onlooker, but take a look inside of it and one can find some interesting pieces like the gnarly-looking chairs and antler decors. It was built in 1965 and has two beds, a small kitchen area, and a separate boathouse, according to the Creators Project.
The Daily Mail also mentioned that the 1,012 sq. ft. property features oversized windows all around the house for the great views of the nearby lake, a veranda circumventing the structure, and a lounge area. The home is made out of wooden materials.
Björk is currently dealing with a lawsuit just recently filed against her by ex-partner and fellow artist Matthew Barney, as reported by Page Six. He is petitioning for an equal amount of custody time for their child, Isadora.
She "is effectively sacrificing Doa's (Isadora) emotional well-being in favor of her own selfish desires," says the Brooklyn-based artist.
On the other hand, Björk recounts her ugly split with the father of her daughter in her latest album Vulnicura.
The singer, whose popular hits also include "Hyperballad" and "Army of Me," is well-known for her refreshing, if eclectic music, which somehow conforms to her persona as someone who deviates from the conventional. She is most notable for some of her off-the-wall antics in the past, like stitching up pearls underneath her skin and her choice of the flamboyant swan costume during the 2001 Academy Awards.
The country she hails from is nicknamed the land of Fire and Ice, which is a contradiction in itself.
