Anaheim Ducks Captain Ryan Getzlaf Buys $6.1 million Corona del Mar Home

The Anaheim ducks are soaring high in the current NHL season, landing on top of the Western Conference standing after the regulars. And, Ryan Getzlaf is arguably the mightiest duck in this California-based flock. More than the X's and O's, it's the leadership and the other intangibles he brings along with his A-game night-in and night-out that's just special.

Together with his longtime partner-in-crime, Right Wing Corey Perry, their dynamic duo makes up the two-headed monster of Anaheim. The team was 30-8-2 this season when one or both of them is able to score a goal, while 21-16-5 when they are both contained and held scoreless.

The adversaries are particularly wary about this; the Ducks management, on one hand, is just grateful to these gems of players. And, their token of appreciation comes to the tune of $66 million in an eight-year contract for the Ducks' captain and center man.

Getzlaf receives his well-earned bounty, and he surely knows how to reward himself with a reported purchase of a $6.1 million Corona del Mar estate, as told by the LA Times.

The 5,200 square-foot property is a traditional-style beach house situated in the Cameo Shores enclave. The structure is designed in a U-shaped pattern with the enclosed space functioning as a courtyard. Here you can find a swimming pool and an elevated spa. One side of the property is endowed with the overlooking views of the Pacific Ocean.

The house has four beds and five baths, and also features a study, a family room with a wet bar, a breakfast nook, living room, and a formal dining room. Inside the master suite, the 6'4'', 218-pounder NHL star, together with his wife Paige, will wake up to the sound of the great ocean's waves.

It was originally listed on the market for $6.25 million back in August, says the LA Times. Summer Perry and Rob Smith of Surterre Properties made the deal for this sale happen in early March.

The Anaheim Ducks will square off in a best-of-seven series against the Winnipeg Jets on Apr 16th at 1030pm, Eastern, to open their respective 1st round of playoff campaigns at the Honda Center. Getzlaf will definitely suit up for this game after sitting out the last two to rest.

The 29-year-old native of Regina City, in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, is one of the top contenders for this season's Hart Trophy voting for the Most Valuable Player award.
