Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao's upcoming fight is set to be the single largest sporting event and based on the recent comments of the American boxer, win or lose, this may very well be his last professional fight.
According to The Telegraph, during a Q&A prior to a workout session, the 38-year-old champion indicated he's done with fights.
"No. I don't enjoy it like I once did," said the undefeated fighter. He adds that "It is at a point where it is business. It is my job. I go to the gym. I train. I know what I have to do," said Floyd outside his Las Vegas gym.
"There was a time when it was fun but I am to a point now where I am really over all of that stuff."
Floyd Mayweather Jr., a five weight division champ, remains unbeaten with a record of 47-0 career fight.
"He's a future hall-of-famer. I am a future hall-of-famer and we are meeting at the pinnacle of our careers," continued the pound-for-pound fighter. "From the matchup, it is going to be a very exciting fight. Our styles are totally different. I fight with smarts. Every move is calculated. Every move is thought about."
Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao (57-2-5) will be one of Mayweather's toughest fights with the boxer-turned-politician holding the most number of weight division championships, currently at eight.
While both boxers are at the later stages in their career, both remain in tip-top shape and are evenly matched with their age.
The payout will be massive for both boxers with Mayweather expected to bank at least $180 million and Pacquiao his own $120 million.
The fight took five years to iron out with demands from Mayweather's camp the alleged cause for all the delays. Drug testing and representation were big issues with the "Team Money" camp thus, a rematch will be highly unlikely, notes SkySports.
"The negotiations for the first one were so hard," said Manny Pacquiao. "How can we talk about a second one? The first one was so hard to make happen."
Following Mayweather's May 2 Las Vegas fight with Pacquiao, he has one remaining fight, a "Final one at the MGM Grand in September," says Floyd.
