'X-Men: Apocalypse' 2016 Movie Cast, Trailer & Characters: Olivia Munn Joins as Psylocke; Ben Hardy as Archangel?

While the world awaits the premier of Marvel's "Avengers: Age of Ultron," another crew of superhero mutants are gaining traction with more actors joining the cast. Word is out that the studio has finally locked in actors who would play vital roles in the upcoming sequel of X-Men.

According to Master Herald, the producers revealed that actress Olivia Munn would join the mutant crew in the upcoming movie as Betsy Braddock, also known as Psylocke.

It was none other than director Bryan Singer himself who confirmed the news. The director made the revelation through an Instagram post on April 13.

Singer posted a photo of the actress on the social networking site with the caption, "Excited to welcome @oliviamunn as Betsy Braddock! #Psylocke #XmenApocalypse #XMEN"

An article in Vox noted Psylocke as one of the "first-tier X-Men and one of the most recognizable characters in the franchise." Moreover, it seems that the reason fans are excited to see her character in the film is because of her powers, which include advance martial arts skills, telekinesis, psychic knives, and telepathy, noted Cinema Blend.

However, it is still unclear if her character in the movie would manifest all those powers or just a select few. Psylocke's character has been in short stints in the previous "X-Men" films. This would be the first movie that her character would play a major role.

Meanwhile, another actor, Ben Hardy, has confirmed his participation in the movie. It was initially reported that Hardy would portray Angel in the film. However, further reports have come out that he would instead play the role of a villain in the upcoming film.

Singer hinted of this twist in an interview with Empire, reported IGN. According to the director, "Ben Hardy is Angel - I shall confirm it for you! But he's not a very nice Angel! And that's all I'll say."

The site also noted that two concept arts for the character have been revealed, which showed the character don the transformed look of Angel when he became Archangel.

Archangel is one of the henchmen of Apocalypse, said Screen Rant. Based from the comic books, he was saved by Apocalypse and he became one of the villain's Four Horsemen, serving "Death."

However, it is still unclear if this is the same storyline the movie would pick up. Angel/ Archangel or Warren Worthington III was last seen in the "X-Men: The Last Stand" film.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" would hit theaters in May 2016.
