'Clash of Clans' Update: Game No Longer No.1 Among iPad Users With Double Down Casino Taking Over

Months after the mobile game, "Clash of Clans," enjoyed immense success as one of the top downloaded games for the iPhone and iPad platforms, a newcomer nudged it out to claim the No. 1 spot. Word is out that "Double Down Casino" is now the most downloaded app for the two Apple platforms.

This is the first time in two years that a casino simulation game reached the top spot. Since 2013, only three games were able to hit the No. 1 spot in the revenue list of iPad games. "Candy Crush," "Game of War," and "Clash of Clans" all reached more than $15 million monthly revenues for that period, reported BGR.

All three games are part of the "strategy simulation or puzzle genres" and it was not a surprise they maintained the top spot for months in a row. This is because the genre they belong to was among those regarded as the most profitable in the market.

With the arrival of "Double Down Casino," however, it seems that the market has finally shifted into social casino games, where players get to earn "virtual dollars" to gamble more.

Even with "Double Down Casino" topping "Clash of Clans," the popularity of the latter has not waned. In fact, many players still come up with different strategies to win in the game.

While there are hundreds of strategies circulating online, there remain two that have become players' favorites, noted Gospel Herald.

The premise of the multiplayer mobile game is to create a community, train troops to defend it, and attack others to earn "elixir" or gold used as to further create defenses to ward off attackers.

One of the top two strategies gamers use is to make a player's base not attractive to the enemy. While some would opt making their base strong to stand up against enemies' attacks, this strategy uses the opposite and instead would disguise the base to make it seem weak.

To do this, players are advised to make the "home base appear ransacked and invaluable." Instead of keeping the area around the base neat, let it look unkempt with a few tombstones and growing obstacles.

The dirty and unclean look would let other players put their focus elsewhere.

A second strategy that Clashers developed is the use of combined strength and arms to distract enemies. Hog riders, golems, and a barbarian king are needed to make this strategy successful.

Golems and the barbarian king would act as a decoy, attracting enemies away from their bases as hog riders attack town walls. This is very effective in Town Hall 8 bases but would require the right timing and planning to be successful.
