'Battlefield 5' Release Date, Gameplay Trailer, News & Rumors: Everything We Know About Game That's to Come Out in 2016

Ever since Electronic Arts (EA) came out with "Battlefield Hardline," fans of the series have been looking forward to the next title from the franchise. Word is out that followers might have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on the new title as it was reported that "Battlefield 5" will be coming out next year.

After a disappointing release with "Battlefield 4," EA seemed to recompense for its dismal performance with "Battlefield Hardline." According to IGN, the video game is currently at the top for most games bought for the month of March.

With that, many are eager to see what the fifth installment would offer in terms of upgrades and gameplay. A report in BF4Central said that "Battlefield 5" would veer away from the usual cops-and-robbers theme. EA confirmed that it would be a "military-themed" game, a break from its usual characters.

No reports have been made as to what would be the location or setting of the upcoming video game.

It is also reported that the upcoming title would be exclusive for current and next generation game consoles. With the numerous video games lined up for production by the developers, the people in EA and DICE might find it a waste to exert their efforts in making the game available to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

With this in mind, there are rumors that "Battlefield 5" might arrive to consoles on the last quarter of 2016. A report in Metro said that developers are currently hard at work in the game but the launch date would be next year to give way to other video game scheduled to come out in 2015.

A statement from EA head Andrew Wilson said, "As a result of the extended services and content updates that we provide, it's clear that players want to experience the games we're delivering for longer periods of time."

He added, "Looking into next year, we will ensure that our players have enough time between releases to fully explore the depth and innovation in our shooter titles."

EA is coming out with "Star Wars Battlefront" in Christmas 2015 and with "Battlefield Hardline" launched in March 2015 which might make the timeline too tight.

If that is the case, then the longer waiting period would give the developers in EA more chance to polish and make an excellent game to avoid the catastrophe that was "Battlefield 4," reported IGN.

"Battlefield 5" is reportedly arriving to consoles on the fourth quarter of 2016.
