'Mortal Kombat X' PS4, Xbox One Update: Patch 1.02 Available for Download! Here's What We Know About First DLC!

Less than a week since NetherRealm Studios came out with the highly anticipated "Mortal Kombat X" and a patch update has already been made available. News circulated that the Patch 1.02 would bring additional features and further improve gameplay experience for the fans of the series.

According to Master Herald, the new update has been made available to all platforms of the video game beginning April 18.

Patch 1.02 brings to players new character skins to make their fighters look a bit different, unique, and not boring. A post in Playstation Lifestyle enumerated the characters that would be getting new costumes with the arrival of the patch.

Among those mentioned are Vampiress Mileena, Kraken Reptile, Jason Vorhees, Motherland Sonya, Pharaoh Ermac, revolution Kano, and Tundra Sub-Zero.

It would also add the "free Klassic Sub-Zero costume," noted the site.

However, the update did not only improve the costumes and skins of some of the characters but also brought enhancements to some of the moves and maneuvers.

A list of the full patch notes for moves and maneuvers could be found on Game Rant, which listed the following as the improvements players should experience:

  • "General - Throws (regular or command grabs) will no longer sometimes connect on a grounded reacting opponent off a counter hit."
  • "Sub-Zero (Grandmaster) - Combos on a grounded opponent frozen by the Ice Klone will now scale properly."
  • "Takeda (Ronin) - Added a new move 'Quick Kall' (Down, Towards, Front Punch) which quickly returns a dropped blade without doing an attack.
  • "Shinnok (Impostor) - He can now control the location of a stolen Goro Stomp."
  • "Takeda (Shira Ryu) - He will now always teleport to the other side when doing the Air Shira Ryu Port."

The launch of "Mortal Kombat X" to all platforms was relatively problem-free except for a few glitches in the PC version. To compensate for this, the new patch would give out 10,000 Krypt Koins to each player in the PC version as a prize for patiently waiting for the game to be fixed.

The coins could be used in in-app purchases that include new costumes and even "fatalities" to kill their opponents.

The popularity of the game prompted some modders to now begin their mod projects in the video game. In fact, a new mod was successful in making non-playable characters in the story mode to become part of the roster of fighters in the PC version.

"Mortal Kombat X" is now available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Last generation consoles could get their hands on the game in June.
