Sports men are making a killing out of either their talents or savvy investments from this lucrative business. In this year's Forbes annual list of billionaires, newcomer Michael Jordan, retired NBA superstar and current owner to the Charlotte Hornets, made the cut. He is joined by fellow NBA team owners Leslie Alexander of the Rockets and Chicago Bulls' Jerry Reinsdorf.
And high above them on top of the pecking order is Clippers Steve Ballmer listed as the 35th wealthiest billionaire. But, it's not just in basketball; other names all across the sport were also queued with the likes of Paul Allen (Seahawks), $17.5 billion, Bernard Ecclestone (Formula One), $3.9 billion, and John W. Henry (Boston Red Sox and Liverpool Football Club), $1.6 billion.
And, it's no wonder these bunch of people are also making it big when it comes to their real estate spending. Let's check out five of these most expensive homes in sports as listed by The Real Deal.
5. Paul Allen's Modern Silicon Valley mansion
The Seattle Seahawks and Portland Trail Blazers owner's home has an estimated value of $27 million according to the site. The Real Deal based their home values on the recent sales and public assessors' records. They also consulted with expert realtors and appraisers in these homes' markets.
The billionaire got a bargain out of this home's purchase, paying only $27 million, as compared to its price tag of $31.8 million. The mansion features several fireplaces, vaulted ceilings, a movie room, and a guest house. The living space is 22,000 square-foot in size, spread across two acres of lot.
4. Tiger Woods' Jupiter Island Mansion
The golfer extraordinaire can take a respite from his sport without getting out of shape with this mansion's 100-ft. lap pool with a 60-ft. diving area, a running track, and a tennis court that also doubles as a basketball court. This Florida mansion also serves as Tiger's sanctuary back in 2011 after he and his wife got divorced.
