In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Jordan brand with global sports wear Nike, a new colorway is coming out for one of the remastered versions from the Air Jordan line. Fans of the former Chicago Bulls star could soon get their hands on the newest color design of the Air Jordan 7 Retro due to come out this April.
The new colorway for the Air Jordan 7 Retro takes fans back to the summer of 1992 in Barcelona, Spain where the greatest basketball players of the United States made history.
Barcelona is the city where the Michael Jordan-led basketball Dream Team of 1992 would take center stage to bring home the gold medal, noted Complex. During that time, the NBA icon sported the Air Jordan 7, which is the reason the new colorway was designated in the remastered shoe.
The Air Jordan 7 Retro "Barcelona Days" hopes to commemorate the days the Dream Team of 1992 spent in that city, said Kicks on Fire. It also aims to commemorate the victory of the team in cinching an Olympic gold. Another design called, "Barcelona Nights," was previously released for the same shoe with a darker color tone that featured black upper instead of the mellower grey color.
According to another report from Kicks on Fire, this design was initially dubbed as the "Bobcats" in honor of Jordan's former team, the Charlotte Bobcats, or more famously known as the Charlotte Hornets.
Officially tagged as dark grey/ wolf grey/ total orange/ turquoise blue, the Spanish city's rich culture inspired the "Barcelona Days" design, noted Nike.
The sneaker is composed of a dark grey and wolf grey two-tone upper made from premium leather. To add life to the monotonous color of the shoe, accents in turquoise, orange, and hints of red and blue are found peppered all over the shoe.
From the shoe's tongue to its outsole, the vibrant colors add a touch of character to the iconic sneaker. A turquoise "Jumpman" logo is found at the upper part around the ankles, while the number "23" is placed at the heels of each sneaker to set off the look.
The Air Jordan 7 Retro "Barcelona Days" is arriving to Nike stores, retailers, and Nike.com on April 25.
Each pair would be sold for $190. Unfortunately for the kids who want to cop this design, it would not be available in grade school sizes.
