Ever since Konami confirmed that "Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain" is arriving to consoles soon, many fans of the series have been eagerly anticipating what's next for the game's lead character, Snake. However, information and details about the upcoming game have been sparse.
While confirmed features of the game have been quite hard to find with developers releasing minimal information, numerous speculations and rumors began to circulate in the Internet.
According to Gaming Bolt, the next title from the "Metal Gear Solid" franchise would bring an upgraded map for the players to explore. Its size is reportedly "fairly large" to allow the player to really maximize the game.
A statement from Konami in March revealed that, "all maps would be available in playable form in all available game modes," as reported by Gamepur. Hence, some reports assumed that the upcoming game would not have too many maps to be explored.
It was also rumored that the next title would finally allow players to customize their characters. Developers from Konami were asked if the new game would finally add this feature but the answer they provided was vague, which led many fans feeling uncertain if it would actually happen.
In response to the query of character customization, the developers merely said without offering additional details, "It's important to us," reported Master Herald.
On top of that, the people behind "MGS V: Phantom Pain" would reportedly add a screen on which players could see their signal or Internet speed connection for their game - a way to see if the terrible gameplay is caused by a weak signal or the player's strategy.
For players who are already thinking of ways to create cheats to advance in the game, the developers are actively looking for ways to strengthen the game's security to counter such practice. However, it remains unclear how this would pan out in the title and if it would be strong enough to ward off would-be cheaters.
The developers are taking full consideration of fans' suggestions. However, they made it clear in a statement that their work on the project is not solely based on the recommendations.
"While we appreciate all fan feedback, we aren't looking to fans to decide our entire development plan," they said in the statement. "We are experienced professional game designers/developers and ultimately decide what works best for the game. Rest assured however we continue to listen to the community and will revise the game as needed."
"Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain" would arrive to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360 on September 1, while the PC version would be available starting September 15.
