The UK's first amphibious house will be built on the banks of the River Thames later this year. This imaginative architecture, designed by Baca Architects, has solved the threat of flooding.
The modern 225 square meters house, located only 10 meters from the river's edge, will be completed within this year. This design has 3 bedrooms with fashionable, environment-protecting, using the latest technology design, which is a great breakthrough for British architects and engineers who have been searching for many years for solutions to mitigate the risk - and damage - of water ingress to homes in flood-prone areas.
An amphibious home currently costs about 1.5 million GBP, 20% to 25% more than a similar sized house. However, it can save a large sum for the insurance cost. Hundreds of houses were overwhelmed in 2007.
