'OITNB' Season 3 Cast & Trailer: Martha Stewart Heading to Show? Character Details Here

The third season of "Orange is the New Black" just got a bit more interesting. A new character is set to hit the show and they're going to be inspired by none-other-than lifestyle guru Martha Stewart.

Per series creator Jenji Kohan who spoke to Time during the Time 100 Gala, the upcoming season will introduce a character that is inspired by the 73-year-old television personality.

Stewart famously went to West Virginia prison in 2004 after being convicted insider-trading but was suppose to go to Danbury, the facility which the show's Litchfield prison is based on.

The character won't have a profile that's too similar to Martha. Kohan shares that they "took some liberties with the character," for example, rather than hailing from Jersey, the Martha-like character will be Southern. Unfortunately, Kohan didn't provide additional details on who would be portraying Stewart in the show of her relation to the rest of the cast.

Last year, Stewart was interviewed by Net-a-Porter's Porter Magazine (via PageSix) and she didn't hold back regarding what she thought about the show.

"They could have done that so much better. That girl [Taylor Schilling] is not good enough, the lead actress...I met the real Piper [Kerman]. She was in prison either the same time or after me, and I talked to her about it.

I feel so sorry for all of them in prison. The system lets them down. It's hideous. And I'm sorry I have not had the time or the real inclination to help, but right now, there is a huge movement against the penal system."

Time also shared that Stewart, who was present at the Gala, admit she hasn't watched the show but is intrigued by the character addition.

"I'll look at it," said Stewart.

Netflix show "Orange is the New Black" was inspired by the memoir of Piper Kerman.

Actors that star in the series along with Schilling include Laura Prepon, Uzo Aduba, Natasha Lyonne, Taryn Manning and more. The show is set to return to Netflix for its third season on June 12.
