“Pirates of the Caribbean 5” is now back in production after being delayed for almost a month due to Johnny Depp's hand injury during an accident off-set. Now, though, it looks like Captain Jack Sparrow is back to his old trouble-making ways, as evidenced by a recently leaked movie still.
“Captain Jack Sparrow is back,” producer Jerry Bruckheimer wrote on his Twitter page on Tuesday. “And, we are not letting him go.”
In the photo, Depp, as Sparrow, was tied up to a massive wooden pole with thick ropes. He was flanked by two clearly menacing pirates and he had Sparrow’s signature comic look on his face – the one that he usually has whenever he is in trouble. It is fortunate that Depp is now back since they need to get a move on with the film’s production stages.
In “Pirates of the Caribbean 5,” Captain Jack Sparrow will have to face off with his old nemesis, Captain Salazar, who leads his very own ghost ship. Salazar managed to escape from the Devil’s Triangle and has now made it his goal to kill of every pirate sailing at sea, including Sparrow.
To make sure that he is able to survive Salazar’s evilness, he ventures forth to find the legendary Trident of Poseidon, which he hopes will give him absolute power to control the seas, as told by Slash Film.
An article from Entertainment Weekly confirmed that Geoffrey Rush, Orlando Bloom, Kaya Scodelario, Brenton Thwaites, Kevin McNally, Golshifteh Farahani, Stephen Graham, and Javier Bardem -- who is the villain of the story named Captain Salazar -- are joining Depp in the pirate-centered blockbuster franchise.
Earlier this month, it was reported by The International Business Times that Ronning went out to go “scouting” for a new location somewhere near the Great Barrier Reef for a new scene.
IGN said that the Walt Disney movie only has three more months before filming must be wrapped up. “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” hits theaters by July 7, 2017.
The co-director took to his Instagram account to tell his fans and followers that he was looking for the perfect spot in the sea to shoot a particular scene. As seen on the photo, the director was clearly on a boat, wearing a T-shirt and a pair of shorts.
