Ever since the last film from the "Amazing Spider-Man" series came out, fans of the web slinger have been looking forward to seeing what's next for the superhero. Reports came out that the reboot film for Spider-Man received a working title which confirms that the superhero is finally set to return to the big screen.
It has long been rumored that a new "Spider-Man" film is in the works since news broke out that Marvel closed a deal with Sony to feature the webslinging hero in its huge cinematic universe, said Screen Rant.
However, it remains unclear which story line the upcoming film would follow. The 2002 "Spider-Man" film, which featured actor Toby Maguire, already got a reboot in 2012 with Andrew Garfield's version of Peter Parker in "The Amazing Spider-Man."
A rumor posted by former Latino Review writer, Umberto Gonzales, in his Instagram page, hinted that the upcoming plot for the new reboot series could be guessed from the project's alleged working title, noted Cinema Blend.
According to Gonzales, the information he received, though unconfirmed, said that the upcoming film was given the working title of "Spider-Man: The New Avenger."
If the rumor should prove true, then it would not be the first time that Marvel would use the word "Avenger" in one of its films that does not include the crew of The Avengers. The first movie that showed Chris Evans as Captain America was titled, "Captain America: The First Avenger."
Other initial rumors on the possible plot of the new "Spider-Man" film seem to give way for a hint of truth in Gonzales' information.
In February 2015, Cinema Blend also reported on another rumor from Gonzales that said the reboot film would not be an origins story and instead would focus on the superhero "towards becoming an Avenger."
The same report also noted of the plot line that would see the web slinger go against Iron Man as part of a series of tests to prove that he has what it takes to be part of the superhero crew.
Before fans see Spider-Man don his costume for a solo film once again, it has been reported that he would be seen in action in the upcoming "Captain America: Civil War" film which is scheduled for release in May 2016.
Marvel has yet to issue a statement about the rumor and it remains to be seen in the coming months when more news of the movie comes out.
"Spider-Man" reboot film is set for a July 2017 theatrical release.
