T-Mobile finally joined the ranks of US carriers that already rolled out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. The Korean tech company has been reportedly working with carriers to release the update to its present flagship phablet.
Now that T-Mobile approved the software, as posted by the company's product manager, Des Smith, on Twitter, Galaxy Note 4 users can finally have access to an improved notification system. With the update, pending notifications will be neatly displayed on the device's lock screen while "heads up" notifications will be shown as banners at the top portion of the screen, according to Tech Times.
Users can also directly respond to messages even from a locked screen. Plus, whenever the user is playing games or watching a video clip, there will be no interruption whenever there is an incoming phone call. It also has some new protective features, such as the SELinux, which protects the device from malware, as well as the Android Smart Lock, which secures the unit by pairing it with the user's car or a wearable device.
Galaxy Note 4 owners, who oftentimes forget their devices at home, can still be in contact with their friends, or access messages and photos stored in the unit by logging into another Android phablet that also runs on the Lollipop update.
The update also brings easier toggles for Location, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi, as well as new control buttons for Screen Rotation, Flashlight, and Mobile Hotspot.
With regard the media, the update reportedly allows the unit to give bolder and clear graphics as well as improved quality for audio, photo, and video recordings. Users can obtain full resolution frames at around 30 frames per second and capture pictures in YUV and Bayer Raw formats, in addition to top-of-the-line video technology that permits UHD 4K video playback.
Although it may sound like the unit may use up battery life more quickly, the Android 5.0 Lollipop actually has a battery saver feature for the Galaxy Note 4. After downloading and installing the update, the unit's battery life can be extended up to 90 minutes, as reported by Christian Times.
T-Mobile is the last US carrier to roll out the update to the Galaxy Note 4. Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon already distributed the update to their clients earlier. Some of those who have tried out the new update are glad with the improved results while others complained and even wished that they stayed on Kit Kat.
