Ever since Mojang's "Minecraft" has been made available on all game consoles, fans of the building game have been eager to see what's next for it. Word is out that both PlayStation and Xbox game consoles are receiving new updates this week that should make the game more lively and exciting.
Game developer Mojang has recently came out with a press release on its official site to introduce the numerous changes happening to the game. Among the new things arriving to the title is the addition of "The Simpson" skin to the PlayStation consoles.
According to Game Spot, PS users would not only gain access to Homer, Marge, Maggie, Bart and Lisa but would also see other characters in the popular cartoon series. Joining the Simpsons in "Minecraft" are Otto, Uter, Willie the Groundskeeper, Seymour Skinner, Dewey Largo and so much more.
PS users would be able to download the "Simpsons" DLC beginning April 28 for the price of $3. It is speculated that the Simpsons pack could introduce further expansions, as the new DLC would only focus on the family of Homer and Springfield Elementary School.
Microsoft console users had early access to the "Simpsons DLC."
But Xbox users should not be disappointed as their consoles are also getting new updates for the game. A report on IGN noted that new achievements are heading to the Xbox 360 so that players could get up to 1000 in high scores.
According to the statement on the developer's site, the Xbox 360 would get 30 more achievements to balance out with the Xbox One, which has more achievement levels for the longest time.
In addition to that, the last generation console would also soon receive new music tracks. However, the developers have not mentioned an exact date when these changes would be available.
Another major change to hit "Minecraft" on both the Sony and Microsoft consoles is the addition of a new female skin for the gamers.
According to the statement, while developers understand how lovable Steve is, having only a male character does not exactly cover all the fans of the series. So, they have decided to add a female character to the popular game.
"Now, everyone loves Steve - he's probably the most famous minecrafter in the world, and has excellent stubble. But jolly old Steve doesn't really represent the diversity of our playerbase. For that reason, we're giving all players opportunity to play with an Alex skin instead," said the company.
The statement added, "She brings thinner arms, redder hair, and a ponytail; she actually looks a bit like Jens from certain angles."
The Alex skin will come to both Playstation and Xbox staring April 29.
