Joe Montana Net Worth & Home: 'Football Star' Buys $2.3M San Francisco Flat

NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana has bought a $2.3M San Francisco flat, reports Los Angeles Times.

The former 49ers quarterback has a net worth of $80M as stated on Celebrity Net Worth, thus, this purchase will just be a little pinch of the massive amount.

The famous athlete's new home, located in a 1920s-constructed building in the Marina District, is actually priced at precisely $2.275M, notes LA Times. The site describes it as a full-floor flat dedicated solely to the football great and his wife, Jennifer, having around 1,900 sq.ft. of living space. Aside from two bedrooms and two baths, the flat features parquet wood flooring, arched doorways, spanning windows, formal dining room, and modern kitchen.

The unit promises a comfortable stay for the football legend who will turn 59 in less than two months because it has a patio and a relaxing well-manicured garden.

The agent who handled the listing is Rebecca Schumacher of Sotheby's International Realty, while Jonathan Iddings of King Realty Group represented Joe Montana and his wife, according to the news site.

Montana's fruitful career

Montana played in 16 seasons with a total of 40,551 yards in his career and was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 2000, according to NFL website.

Montana was also instrumental in the San Francisco 49ers' heyday in the 1980s, leading the team in four Super Bowl victories, notes Bio. The site also mentioned that the 49ers' remarkable wins include the back-to-back championship in 1989 and 1990.

It was also noted that even at a young age, the Pennsylvania born athlete held so much promise in the field of sports. He was said to have received a scholarship to play basketball in North Carolina State University but chose to play football and registered at the University of Notre Dame.

Bio adds that Montana, dubbed as one of the greatest quarterbacks in history, was selected in the third round of the 1979 NFL Draft by the 49ers. He played 14 seasons with the team until the 1992 season, after which he transferred to Kansas City Chiefs and played there for his final two seasons.

Although he did not retire as a 49er, he still has confidence in the team. He told USA Today in 2014, "I think they've got a great opportunity to get back and even win it. I like their chances with (wideout Michael) Crabtree back. Now they just need to feed the ball to (tailback Frank) Gore a little more - if he doesn't take himself out of the game."
