'Captain America: Civil War' Cast, Trailer & Plot: Villain Daniel Bruhl Talks Movie Role

Ever since word of a third Captain America installment first hit the news waves, rumors regarding the upcoming Marvel flick has been pouring in. Now, actor Daniel Bruhl, confirmed to be playing a villain in the film, has talked about his casting role for the first time.

As the film is set to begin production at the end of the month, Bruhl will be playing an antagonist in "Captain America: Civil War." In a recent conversation with The Independent, the "Inglorious Basterds" star confirmed that he would be playing the hooded villain Baron Zemo.

"I think I can tell you that without being thrown into Marvel prison..." Bruhl told the British newspaper.

For those who aren't aware of Baron Zemo, he is one of Captain America's greatest foes. He is the son of Hydra scientist Helmut Zemo and as a result of his efforts to avenge the death of his father, he has been disfigured due to the effects of Adhesive X, a bonding substance.

The character sports his signature purple mask and is most noted for his establishment of the Masters of Evil as a group super-villains. However, it remains to be seen how the character will be portrayed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The actor did add that he's excited to be part of such a big project and admitted, "For the first few days I'll walk around like a little boy, just amazed by the megalomania of it. It's such a huge project. We could do 20 films with the budget."

Bruhl's inclusion in the film adds him to a casting line up that includes the likes of Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chadwick Boseman, Frank Grillo, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan and other actors.

Another new Marvel franchise star set to reprise a role in the "Civil War" flick includes Elizabeth Olsen who first played her character, Scarlett Witch, in the recently released global blockbuster, "Avengers: Age of Ultron."

Entertainment Weekly quoted the star who also confirmed her appearance in the movie.

"I guess I'm allowed to talk about that now," she said at the London Meet the Filmakers Panel (via EW).

The major plot of the film will follow the divide of the Marvel superheroes over the Superhuman Registration Act. The two opposing sides are to be led by Captain America (Evans) and Iron Man (Downey Jr.).

"Captain America: Civil War" is set to open in theaters May 6, 2016. No trailer has been released.
