"Zoolander 2" just got itself another guy with a swagger that could give Ben Stiller a run for his money. Word is out that pop singing sensation Justin Bieber officially joined the cast of the long awaited sequel.
The big reveal was made through social networking sites Instagram and Twitter. According to The Guardian, none other than the 21-year-old singer himself made the announcement of his cameo in the sequel. Bieber posted a photo of himself with Stiller on his two accounts.
The image, which showed the Canadian singer engaged in a stare down with Stiller, tagged the Hollywood actor and was simply captioned, "@benstiller #Zoolander2 #itsawignotmynewhair"
Stiller also retweeted the image in his own account.
It is not yet clear what role Bieber would play in the movie and it remains to be seen how well he will do alongside veteran actors.
He joins the star-studded cast which includes Stiller, Owen Wilson, Billy Zane, Penelope Cruz, Will Ferell, Kristin Wiig, Fred Armisen, and Lewis Hamilton.
A few days earlier, the singer hinted at a new project when he told his fans that he was on location, noted Entertainment Today. A post on his Facebook account said, "Working on something big right now in Europe." He added, "To learn more follow me on Fahlo. He is so hot right now."
The cast and crew of "Zoolander" are currently in Rome, Italy to shoot the film and the singer's status update seemed to confirm his connection to the project.
His manager, Scooter Braun, also posted a short clip of the Calvin Klein model copying the famous Rafiki scene in the Disney animated film, "Lion King." The video was uploaded in Braun's Instagram account and was captioned, "When in rome... @justinbieber @joetermini @allisonjamiekaye @florido"
The movie is not the first time the 21-year-old singer would foray into acting. A report in IGN said that Bieber currently has two-episode appearances in "CSI" and in the new film, "Killing Hasselhoff."
Aside from the pop star, it is also rumored that other celebrities would have cameo roles in the upcoming sequel. Some reports said that power couple Kim Kardashian and Kanye West would join the cast. Comedian Jonah Hill and Vogue head Anna Wintour are also rumored to be part of the film.
The sequel's plot is still unclear but it is reported that models Derek and Hansel team up together as a rival firm does its best to keep the two off the fashion industry.
"Zoolander 2" is set to hit theaters on February 12, 2016.
